Description Marcin Juszkiewicz 2018-01-10 18:19:22 UTC
After years of using Thunderbird I decided to try KMail again. Installed, added private IMAP account and two work related GMail accounts.

After "fetch mail" button press I got OAuth2 requests for both work related GMail accounts and mail got fetched. I read, remove, marked as important etc. All worked.

Then I wanted to reply to an email. Wrote reply and pressed "Send". And then instead of just sending that mail I got "Enter SMTP password" requester...

My GMail password would not work here so I did not gave it. "Application specific" passwords are disabled on work accounts.

Do I have to go back to Thunderbird?

System: Fedora 27 on x86-64.

Same problem here, how can I send emails with gmail 2FA? " Less secure apps" is not an option anymore. Kmail _must_ support sending emails.

iirc 18.08 has it fixed but no idea when it will land in Fedora.

Or was it planned for 18.12...

Applications 18.12 introduced support for OAuth/2FA support for Gmail SMTP.
