Description Luis Diaz 2018-01-04 17:36:42 UTC
Hello, i noticed that pressing the power button of my laptop will show a dialog with the logout option set by default with a timeout of 30 secconds.

Why is this way? I think to have a timout and dom something that could case information loss is not a good idea.

I suggest to change this action by defualt to suspend, or do not use a timeout if the user does not choose log out explicitly

You explicitly chose to log out by pressing the button?
Comment 2 Nate Graham 2018-01-05 00:12:39 UTC
Don't push the power button if you don't want to trigger a power/shutdown-related action. If your laptop has a button that's too easy to push, you can change the behavior in System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Desktop Session.

Sorry, but I'm not taking about what triggers the action but about what the
default action is.

If we changed the default action for everybody, we would get 1,000 bug reports complaining, "Hey, why doesn't the power button actually turn off the computer anymore!?" If you don't like the default on your system, we provide a facility for changing it.

Feel free to close the bug.i understand your point, however I'm saying that
this behaviour is a destructive default action. All session apps will be
killed. Also this is the same reason i made this a bug.

Thanks, bye
