Since the upgrade to plasma 5.11.5 on neon user edition very often the desktop effects stop. This happens always when I open the application launcher dashboard. I tested on two laptops. Both with intel graphics hardware (2010 and 2011). I also could test it on a very new intel based machine and that seems to be totally stable. When I work with Xrender it works ok. But both Opengl 2.0 and 3.1 are very unstable. There is actually no way to work with opengl.
I did some research: I tried Ubuntu Unity (xenial), I updated it and to my surprise it became very unstable on this machine! Then I installed Ubuntu Bionic. Ubuntu (gnome 3) stayed completely stable after being updated but Kubuntu (installed with sudo apt install kubuntu-desktop) became just as unstable as Neon user edition and Unity. It can't be that I am the only one that is using this hardware (on two laptops). It surprises me that I can't find anything about it on the internet.
Created attachment 109705 [details] mesa stack locked on previous version Using Muon I locked the mesa stack on the previous version. After that I did a full upgrade. To my relief the system stays stable now.

b.t.w. installing the xorg-edgers ppa made the graphical system of my KDE Neon installation stable again on another machine. This ppa gives mesa 17.3.1
Distro issue.
Thank you. Are people already aware of this? Is it useful to make another bug of it? And if so: where?
