Situation: - Have "Folder View" applet in the panel - Right-click -> Folder View Settings -> Keyboard Shortcuts - Assign a shortcut, e.g. Meta+Shift+Y => The shortcut has no effect. Assign another shortcut, e.g. Ctrl+Shift+F8 => The shortcut opens the menu. => The Meta key seems to prevent the key combination from working.
CORRECTION: The problem is not the Meta key but the Y or Z key: When I assign a shortcut with Y, then I have to press Z to get the shortcut activated (or vice versa).
Can't reproduce. Something funky with your keyboard layout? Do you have multiple layouts configured perhaps and are not on your default one?
Sorry, I forgot to mention: I have configured two layouts (us and de). The indicator showed "de" all time I reproduced the behaviour. In Keyboard Hardware and Layout > Layouts > "us" is listed first. I just moved "de" to the top. Now any shortcut containing Z or Y does not trigger the shortcut action anymore. I did not relogin yet.
Nothing to do with Folder View.
Works for me with Plasma 5.21 no matter which keyboard layout I use. There were a lot of fixes here a few months ago; can you re-test?
I run Plasma 5.18.5 now. I can still reproduce: - Have an application menu in the panel - Right-click -> Configure Simple Menu -> Keyboard Shortcuts - Assign a shortcut, e.g. Meta+Shift+Y => The shortcut has no effect. But Meta+Shift+Z has. - Assign the shortcut Meta+Shift+Z - Only pressing Meta+Shift+Y activates the menu. I have two keyboard layouts configured and "de" is active. I did not change the layouts during the whole process. When I choose "us" in the system tray, then the chosen key when assigning the shortcut (e.g. Y in Meta+Shift+Y) matches the one that activates the menu when pressing this shortcut.
I would expect it to be still somewhat broken in 5.18, since the shortcut cleanup went into 5.21. Any chance you can test there? If not, we can just close this. :)
I currently have no possibility to test there.
OK, let's close it then. I am 99% sure it will be fixed for you once you upgrade. :)
