Description Jo 2017-12-31 15:55:20 UTC
Whatever I do, be it a bit painting or panning, the workload of my Mac 10.11 goes up and the ventilator gets noisy.
Please keep portability not just for the newest operating system. 10.13 is a brand new mac Os, so I don't consider yet this "upgrade" as standard.
In the latest years new Os came out like upgrades. Why should I upgrade all times? just to be trendy? If my "old Os" does everything I want and need.

Hi Jo,

I'm sorry, but we cannot do anything with this bug report. There is no relation between the version of your OS and Krita's performance, as long as it's still supported (El Capitan for now, but that depends on our development framework, Qt). There is also no relation to resource management, which is about handling things like brushes and gradients.

It's OK. Thanks for your feedback!

I remember the first release for Mac Os of Krita came out for v.10.9
Of course I won't ask you to support very old Operating systems.. But my Os version isn't really old.
As I understand you right, the Qt framework forces you to break with older Os systems? :((
-IMO, Open source shouldn't follow the mainstream trend to run after the newest software updates, because the rhythm to change Os today isn't sane anymore- :(

No, there are two things:

* We can only support what Qt supports -- http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/supported-platforms.html
* We don't do stuff that would degrade performance on older platforms. We don't do anything specific to any version of any OS that we support.

Perfectly clear that you work not against users.

My posting isn't just some temporary whym. I don't like to break my machine and the noise bothers me a lot - I do nothing wrong as I paint and draw only.
It seems the compatibility of Qt with 10.11 is worth NOTHING. Very sad as I loved your software from the first moment I started to use it. I'll try to run Krita for windows in emulation on my Mac. If nothing works seamless as expected I am forced to abandon Krita
Very sad. :((

I tried to adjust performance again - without results.

If I go under: preferences-display:
I see: canvas graphics acceleration, renderer, scaling mode, use texture buffers : all grayed out (I'm unable to change settings)
Disable vsync is checked, but also grayed out.

Krita seems to get both inputs - from my pen and the touch of my palm in the same time. I checked all but two touch input checkboxes. Painting at super speed doesn't create loud machine noise anymore!

Thanks for supporting me to this point. My problem is solved!
