RAM comparison

- open a folder in the Windows explorer and show it with small thumbnails
- now start digiKam and open the same folder as image preview
- now compare the RAM usage

result: while the Win explorer needs only 33 MB RAM for the image preview, digiKam needs more than 100 MB more, see the attached screenshots.

This is quite a lot for the same action.

Digikam is not a file browser but a photo management suite, meaning it has much more features and tracks much more information about items (photos, ...) than the native file manager. You are comparing apples with oranges here...

I understand this. I was only wondering that digiKam uses so much more RAM despite I did nothing else than opening it. I did not start any map, I even didn't select an image or edited one. Therefore I assumed that there is room for improvements.
