Live system like this one from SUSE ("Krypton") do not include the nouveau mesa driver, because the driver can be unstable. They fall back to llvmpipe, which is in combination with a UHD screen unusable slow. I think in this case, composting should be disabled automatically.

Other distros include the driver.
