Right after starting the KDEnlive 17.08.3 (or 2, both are affected) AppImage, the process "kdenlive --config kdenlive-appimagerc" (which is started twice) starts consuming close to 90% cpu, while I'm not even working on a project or have loaded any content. So that's two high-intensive CPU processes just for an idling KDEnlive. Not sure if I should have filed this under the component 'User Interface', but the other options seemed even less fitting to me. Perhaps a component 'kdenlive core' should be added?
Just tested with 17.12.0 AppImage - same result.

Recently I had a similar problem that was related to a KDE bug. But this one I think is related to audio. Can you try this? When you see high CPU usage, go to: Settings > Playback > Audio Driver and change it to something else, like ALSA (It defaults to Automatic) and click Apply or OK. Does it stop High CPU usage?
Hi. I also noticed a high CPU usage on idle in all Kdenlive AppImages. I was able to pinpoint it to the SDL/Alsa pipeline. Adding Pulseaudio to the AppImage build did fix the problem for me. I am uploading an updated AppImage (17.12.0b) that contains this fix. Can you test if this solves the CPU usage for you and if sound still works correctly ? Yes, 17.12.0b doesn't have the problem any more. Checked on 2 separate systems. Great job guys!
Any work left for this ticket?
No response, assuming it is fixed.
