(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: KMail
Severity: wishlist

How about the Settings/Configure Filters/Filter
Rules/Filter Actions having a Forward as Attachment?

This would be useful for handing spam to an abuse address.

Simple shell script to quietly forward-as-attachment

Here's a simple-minded script that can be used to create a
forward-as-attachment filter. To use it, save and make it
executable (chmod +x)

To use it in a filter, set the Action to 'Execute Program'.
Fill in the text box next to the filter with the path to
the file you've saved (or just the filename, if it's in
your $PATH). Follow that with up to four quoted strings:
the e-mail address to forward to, a CC address, a BCC
address, and the body text. For example:
  fwd-attach 'submitdummy@spamcop.net' '' '' 'Spam to process'

Replaced cwhii@acm.org with andremachado@techforce.com.br due to bounces by reporter
Comment 4 Vedran Ljubovic 2004-11-13 15:39:23 UTC
Perhaps filter rules should always forward as attachment and not inline? There are also redirect and bouncefilter actions if you want forwarded mail to be more readable.

Another version of the script

The above script never worked for me that well (it usually doesn't set
Content-type correctly), so I prefer the attached one using nail (which is
mailx-like but much more developed).

Bug still outstanding in KMail 1.9.1 (KDE 3.5.2).

I would also like to see this feature implemented to help automated reporting of spam to services such as SpamCop. (All headers need to be preserved in such cases.)

Note that Bug 53015 blocks this bug if message signing is enabled by default.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
