Description Ivan Borisov 2017-12-06 09:47:00 UTC
I use x230 on dock station. I want to use laptop with external monitor and keyboard.

On kubuntu power manager
"when laptop lid is closed" is set to do nothing
"Even when a externnal monitor is connected" is checked,
but when i close laptop all monitors go to sleep.

I want to use laptop with external monitor and keyboard.

I use kubuntu 16.04 with 4.10 kernel

Multi-monitor support has been worked on a lot recently. Any chance you can upgrade to something more recent than 5.5.5 and re-test? Since you're using Kubuntu, you should be able to use the kubuntu-backports PPA to upgrade to 5.11.4:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
sudo apt-get update

Backports is already activated. I check "unsuported updates" on Update manager but may be this is relative for ubuntu backports so i add

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports

and make dist-upgrade

now version is 5.8.8

And yes i test and now all work . When i close laptop monitor continue work and system make it primary withh start menu and etc.

Also today i make attempts to fix microphone mute button work on my lenovo x230 without success , but now all is ok, even led indicator work.

Also when search in discovery it works, before when search result always be o founds.

I'm very surprised.
Only problem for moments is fingrprint login not work.

I install fingerprint-gui and yes it works with console and apps. But not work with login screen. But this is not problem for me. I wrote this only for info :)

Excellent, happy to hear it! FWIW, Discover is even better in 5.10 and beyond. I'm using Kubuntu 17.10 with the backports PPA as my home machine and it's a magnificent system.
