In file browser, when setting save destination, one can hit Del keyboard key and delete a full directory without being asked for any kind of confirmation.

Hi,

Thanks for the report!

What desktop are you using Plasma/Gnome/...? The save dialog depends on the used desktop integration. For me Del asks if I want to move the folder to trash.

I agree that the save dialog should not allow deleting files as easily as in dolphin/(or some other file handler) as you don't expect a save dialog to be potentially destructive.

I hope you did not loose anything important. I once lost a whole summers worth of images. I struggled for a week and got most of it back. I used a program that copied all the "empty" parts of the partition and then I created a program that looked for the beginning of a jpeg image and then saved a 3MB chunk. After that I did some post processing to remove file-system data from the resulting files.

Regards,
  Kåre

Hi, thanks for the answer and sorry for the lack of info.
It's Plasma and dolphin.

I've used it for years and never realized that, but today I did hit Del accidentally... (it was because selecting the save folder is not working properly when hitting the dialog's open button, which should be another bug, hmm)
They were my Documents and Downloads folder so... I don't even want to think of what was there, lol
I guess nothing I can't recover somehow.

Thanks for the recovering hint, I could try with photorec or so but since I'm not sure of everything that was in there I guess it'd be a gigantic work.

Best Regards,
