Despite the German language Locale, in the "Main View" of Kontact, the dates of the "Upcoming Events", "Pending To-dos" and "Upcoming Special Dates" are displayed in English: -- the "week day" and "month" text is displayed in English. Within the Kontact components, KMail, KOrganizer and KNotes, the date format is German and within KMail and KOrganizer, the "week day" and "month" text is displayed in German. The rest of the "Main View" text is German: i.e. the language of the "Upcoming Events", "Pending To-dos" and "Upcoming Special Dates" headers is German. Only the "week day" and "month" text of the individual entries is English -- the rest of the text of each entry is displayed in German.
Please add the output of this Konsole command: set | grep ^L[AC]

verified. Now I need to remember how to tell plugins how to use translations.
It works fine here https://i.imgur.com/HPTC0M2.png I think you mean the "Now" "in 1 day" "in 2 days" column, right? Can you post a screenshot with an arrow making clear where the issue is? Which Qt5/KF5 versions are you using?

I don't know, honestly i'd say "you're using old software and in new versions it works" (as demonstrated by my screenshot), but since i'm not the maintainer i won't close the bug. Is there a chance you could update to newer versions instead of the ones you use?

I'm taking this reply as an insult to the openSUSE distribution.
try again when you have a more recent version. it works for us using version 5.7.x
OK. openSUSE Leap 15 begins beta testing next month, release candidate testing begins in April and release is planned for May. Hopefully version 5.7.x of the KDE PIM suite is included in that release. If it isn't, I'll submit a Change Request next month when the Leap 15 Beta Test version hits the streets. ---------------------------------------------------------------- BTW: I consider the KDE PIM Suite - Kontact - to be a powerful and very useful tool. I support Kontact in the openSUSE Forums and, personally I use Kontact exclusively for calendar, journal, contacts, notes, news and e-Mail activities (4.8G disk usage) but, please be aware that Thunderbird is heavy competition, despite it's abysmal calendar and reminder support (my wife uses Thunderbird on Windows). Let's agree that, Kontact still has a couple of rough edges which may occasionally emotional outbursts -- and, it's being actively maintained.
