When trying to extract an archive file using Ark, the GUI file path/location picker doesn't show any path, and some toolbar icons are missing.

Hi, Elvis:

I'm not sure what makes you think "installation looks broken" ?
Is there any particular package or file you think missing , or any dependency version you think is wrong ?

I tried to remove Ark and install again but still the same, not sure how to investigate further in this ?

The file/path picker works fine with no problem when using "Open" button to open an archive file.
