- create a plot - use the menu Worksheet -> Mouse mode -> Select and zoom - click into the plot, keep the left mouse button pressed and move the mouse to the lower right result: it is correctly zoomed into the selected area - now try to zoom out result: This is not possible. In other Software I know (Solidworks, Lazarus etc.) one can zoom out by keeping the mouse pressed and move it to the upper left. It is OK if LP uses another technique to zoom out but I cannot find it. The right mouse button doesn't offer to zoom out and also the middle mouse button does nothing to zoom out.
To zoom out we only have the "zoom out"-button in the toolbar. Alternatively, the mouse wheel can be used to zoom in and out while being in the "Select and Zoom" mouse mode. I don't completely understand the way how this is implemented in Solidworks and Lazarus, which you mentioned. Which part of the view is shown if you do a selection ("press the mouse and move it to the upper left") and release the mouse?
> Which part of the view is shown if you do a selection ("press the mouse and move it to the upper left") and release the mouse? Then the zoom is set back to the default state. This is in all cases I know the 100% scaling where one can see the whole plot/diagram. > Alternatively, the mouse wheel can be used to zoom in and out while being in the "Select and Zoom" mouse mode. That doesn't work for me: - zoom into a part in the lower right of a plot in the "Select and Zoom" mouse mode - to zoom out, scroll one step with the mouse wheel down result: the view jumps unexpectedly to the upper left corner of the diagram. This it is annoying to zoom in and out because it destroys the workflow. Should I report it as separate bug?
I can reproduce the jumping to the upper left corner when zooming with the mouse wheel. I'll fix this. Besides of this, we have "zoom in", "zoom out", "Original size" buttons in the toolbar with the shortcuts CTRL++, CTRL+- and CTRL+1, respectively. The method you described with pressing the mouse and moving it to the upper left corner to reset the view to its default size won't work in LabPlot - this selection is valid as all the other selections independent of the starting and end points. We zoom in into the selected area in this mode. To define a zoom-out action while being in the select&zoom mode when, and only when, dragging the selection from the bottom right to the upper left corner is not very intuitive.
I pushed a fix for that jumping issue during zooming. Please check.
