It can be a duplicate.

This issue happen when I click on "start rectangular region screenshot" or just later ???

Screen is dimmed, I can make rectangular selections using mouse but I cannot exit (return to spectable). alt-tab works to switch window. But I have to kill spectacle on text console to recover my Kde session.

It happened several times, but I don't know how to reproduce it.

It's not a duplicate, because getting Spectacle stuck in fullscreen (but still working) is different from hanging or even crashing the whole system due to other (likely GPU) issues. The other bugs says "I can't alt-tab to another window", while here the reporter mentions "alt-tab works to switch window".

STR for me on Qt 5.10 / Plasma 5.12:
- Start "spectacle", set combobox to "Rectangular Region", Ctrl + N
- Shift + Print to invoke global shortcut
- Esc to show we are stuck
- Ctrl + Cto kill spectacle

Interestingly, on a Qt 5.11 / Plasma 5.13 system I cannot reproduce.

Might also be related / similar to some issues Yakuake causes wrt. freezing input handling, see Bug 378718.
