Created attachment 108722 [details] current system info Problem seems to occur with networked drives. I have a WD MyCloud on local network. I like to work on my documents there so I have the choice of machine to use. If I wake up in the wee hours of the morning I can use my laptop in bed without having to get up and go out to my office. Reproduce: 1) Copy an empty or existing ODT file to a WD MyCloud or other network attached storage. 2) Using Dolphin, navigate to the document location, right click on document and open with Libre Office Writer 3) Type some text. Save. Exit Libre Office Writer 4) Start Libre Office Writer fresh. File->Recent Files->hover over your document name until the path pops up. You will see it is .cache something or other, not the actual document path. Click on the entry to open it. 5) Add more lines of text. Save and exit Libre Office Writer. 6) In Dolphin, right click and open with something else. Your new text isn't there. 7) launch libre office writer again, File->Recent Files->your file name, click to open. Your text is there. 8) Save-As won't let you save as back to the network storage device. You _have_ to save locally. I ended up losing more than 1000 words in my new novel due to this bug. Not like they can just be re-typed. It was a brief moment of inspiration where for just a couple of hours creativity flowed free. Hard to get back to that place. .cache stuff doesn't stick around forever. Took a bit to realize this bug.
Cannot be fixed, unless LibreOffice supports KIO. Since it does not, KIO has to copy the file to a temporary location.
