Description SP 2017-10-31 23:23:59 UTC
I am printing to a Canon Pro 9000 MkII. When I print with Okular v.1.0.3 the text color is wrong - eg; blue is printed as green and black appears to be grey. If I use Evince the text color prints correctly - even though I am using KDE Plasma and not Gnome. If I use other programs such as Linux Draw - the text colors print correctly.

Other relevant info:
KDE Frameworks 5.38.0
Qt 5.7.1 (built against 5.7.1)
CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.12 (color)

Does print preview show the colors correctly?

Yes

Then honestly i'd say it's your printer problem. We can leave this open but there's sincerely not much we can do.
Comment 4 Nate Graham 2017-11-12 22:46:27 UTC
I'm not sure it could be a problem with the printer, since the document prints correctly in other apps (Evince and Linux Draw were mentioned).
Comment 5 Albert Astals Cid 2017-11-12 23:05:01 UTC
Do i really need to explain you that even
1+1
0+2
4/2
2*1
4^(1/2)
all equal to 2 some program may be buggy and fail to calculate it correctly? Now apply the same to printing

@Albert Astals Cid
I am not going to get into a pissing contest here but your logic is questionable. If the printer prints correctly with other programs but not with one program, Okular, then there is a difference in the way those other programs interact with the Gutenprint driver that I use with the Canon Pro 9000 MkII and the way Okular does. So the problem is with the program and not the hardware.

You just did what you said you were not going to do.

Since it's clear you're smarter than me I'm waiting for your patch.

Please also test 'qpdfview', which is a pure Qt program. If this reproduces the issue, the bug would be in the way Qt interacts with the printer drivers.

Thank you for your response. I tested the document again with all three pdf programs, Okular, qpdfview and Evince. The pdf document has a dark blue title and text in default black. With Evince this all prints as expected. With qpdfview the colors are correct - except they are lighter - the blue appears as a midtone and the text is dark grey. With Okular the blue appears as a green and the text appears as a grey. So you may well be right. It could be the way Qt is interacting with the printer drivers. I have also tested all three with another document with a green title and body text in black. All three programs print the title as green - with Evince rendering a dark green and black body text, qpdfview as the same but lighter and Okular as much lighter overall. I also notice that when I check the Options in Okular it is set to Greyscale by default - which I change to colour before I print. In the other programs Colour is set as a default.

Can you possibly attach any of the documents with which the problems occurs for you?
