Without any screenshots, steps to reproduce, or even a description of the issue, we're not going to be able to help fix it. Can you add more information that would help us know what the problem is?

Dolphin and Konqueror both use the same KIO backend for MTP, but if you're not interested in helping to debug this further in Dolphin, I guess there's nothing we can do.

What version of Kubuntu are you using? I use Kubuntu 17.04 and am familiar with some of the issues you mention, but many of them have actually already been fixed in later versions.

I'm with you, I also burned out on the rolling release distros. However one downside of the slow-n-stable model is that often "stable" is a synonym for "has really old bugs that have already been fixed". On the other hand, bleeding edge means you're the QA team (e.g. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385594). Pick yer poison! ;) I'm guessing you'll only upgrade when Kubuntu 18.04 (LTS) comes out with Plasma 5.12., and by then you should reap the benefit of a LOT of bug fixes and polishing.

I know how frustrating it can be when as a user, things just don't work. I've been there. "How can they ship this crap!?" you find yourself wondering. But I just always try to remember: you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Interesting. Is your Home directory a separate partition, a folder on your root partition?

I might recommend heading over to the KDE forum or subreddit and seeing if folks can help there. Those discussions might tease out some targeted and actionable bugs that we can work on.
