Just KStars or other KDE apps?
Comment 2 Rainer Finke 2017-10-12 20:36:58 UTC
I use Wayland since months, but I have not seen it in any other application that the mouse is not visible at all. I can see the mouse pointer in the menu bar, but not in the main window unless I click and hold the left mouse button.

is is completely invisible or just barely visible? I guess I have to spin a Wayland VM to check this out.

Completely invisible.

KDE Neon Wayland doesn't even work so I can't test this. I'll mark this as Later.

I had this issue on a AMD and Intel GPU plus on a VM with Virtio. Upgrade to KDE Frameworks 5.39.0 didn't change anything. If you want to test in a VM I think you need to use one the latest release of KDE Neon, they just released Plasma 5.11 so the unstable branch should be the right one to test. Based on my experience older ones had issues with Wayland in a VM (at least with 3D acceleration). But testing Plasma-Wayland directly on your machine should be easy as well, just install it :-) Now it would be a good time to get a Wayland issue fixed, Plasma 5.12 will make it available to a broader audience.
