Plasma taskbar bug

Steps to reproduce:

1. Pin a couple of applications to the taskbar (at least two)
2. Open the first application by clicking on the icon or pressing Super + 1

Expected behavior:
Application should open and the icon for that application should remain in the same place.

Actual behavior:
The icon for the application moves to the bottom of the list.

This breaks the workflow for people like me who like to keep some applications between the taskbar and switch between them using Super + <num> shortcut. I can imagine that this will also be pretty annoying for people using the mouse since you can no longer rely on your muscle memory to take you to the expected position of your application in the taskbar, and you have to consciously search for its position every time.

Confirming this behaviour here on KDE Neon 5.11 (User Edition), upgraded today to 5.11.0.

Apparently other task manager may be affected too: https://github.com/psifidotos/Latte-Dock/issues/724

Also affecting the icon only task manager. (openSUSE Tumbleweed 20171009)

Disable "Keep launchers seperate" in the settings.

Why? What does that have to do with this bug?! Why are the sort settings being applied to the pinned apps now when they were not being applied to them earlier? This was the original behaviour and the behaviour most people would expect, so even if the change in behaviour is intentional, I would still call it a regression.

Also, can you please wait for feedback from users before marking issue as resolved/fixed? From what I can tell from various forum links people have posted, this issue seems to be affecting a lot of people.

This bug also affects the icons only task manager, which does not appear to have the setting you refer to.

New report opened against Icon Only Task manager. Bug # 385619

This definitely seems like a regression and not a case of misconfiguration or user error.

Marking this as a duplicate of 385594 since there's more technical information in that bug.
