Description alen.siljak 2017-10-04 14:56:54 UTC
I see no way to display the sum of dividends received from a certain security or a type (i.e. all stocks).
Investment Transactions report can be customized to use only Dividend Income category but it displays split transactions so there is no total for the security. It always balances to 0 in Totals.

This effectively makes it impossible to create a report for all investment income for tax purposes.

What type of report are you using? I have been creating a report by category (not sure if it's a direct category report, or by transaction, since I'm not at home) and easily get totals by Interest, Dividend, Dividend Reinvestment, ... (and all both regular and tax deferred).

Hi, Jack,

Thanks for the pointer. That helps!
I have now tried the Transactions by Category from the Transactions reports group and that, indeed, does find all the desired transactions.

Some improvements might be handy. I.e. adding totals per currency, if different currencies are used; or having a possibility to break the results down by security.
This does help, however, since the results can be exported as CSV and massaged further. It would be handy to be able to do all that in one place, nonetheless.

Originally, I was looking at Investments section of the Reports, and used the Investment Transactions report as the base. Then I filtered by categories to include only income.
This is where I can't get the totals as they always balance out to zero.

On a side note, which rate is used for aggregating all the amounts to the base currency?
In my tax reports I need to use the rate set by the central bank for the tax year. How can I ensure that the reports use that rate and not the latest (or any other) value?
Cheers
