Description alberto 2017-10-01 12:10:12 UTC
steps to reproduce:
1. use chroma key or any of the other tools that have the drop icon option to pick a color on the screen
2. pick a color
3. click on the color and note the html value for the color
4. click pick screen color inside the dialog and put the cursor under the same place
5. Compare values. They are different

In step 4, the "pick screen color" that works is the kde one: https://www.kde.org/applications/graphics/kcolorchooser/

The gnome one just show a few colors. If you dont get this color chooser, just use gimp to get the real screen color

Redshift altering the colors of the screen was one of the problems

The other was that I have a slight transparency activated on inactive windows. When The picker was chosed, the screen became inactive and slightly varied the color

These 2 alter the color that the color picker grab from the screen. Not sure if theres a bug to be fixed somewhere or worked as intended tbh :)

Actually, Id like to reopen this. Not sure whose fault it is, but color pick is faulty. It is specially bad since im trying to pick a plain background color generated in a computer

Trying different pick colors tools, the best I get is with the kde color dialog, which removes the color using chroma key just using a variance of 10

Variance of 9 does not remove the color, which means its not picking up the right color

Again, not sure whose fault it is, but kdenlive should be able to not pick what color it sees and instead go to the video and pick up the color the own kdelive rendered is resolving to

Meaning, that point should turn transparent no matter what variance, because im defining that point as the color base to use

Kdenlive has the info already and should make use of it

Dev cannot backport to 18.12 and older versions anymore as 60% of the code has changed.

Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 19.04.2d to see if there are any packaging issues https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/

If the problem/issue doesn't occur when using the AppImage, then it's your configuration or packaging.
