How do you know it's not updated? Do you get error message?
Comment 2 claude 2017-10-14 21:42:18 UTC
Thanks for answerback:
First -when i click for comets orbit, the reply is "null"
Second - on terminal i read
[claude@localhost ~]$ su root
Mot de passe :
[root@localhost claude]# cd /usr/share/kstars
[root@localhost kstars]# ls /usr/share/kstars/comets.dat
/usr/share/kstars/comets.dat
[root@localhost kstars]# ls -l /usr/share/kstars/comets.dat
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 159125 oct. 1 15:32 /usr/share/kstars/comets.dat

and the date is not the current one :01/10/2017 instead of 14/10/2017.
For satellite, i have 02/10/2017. Of course i have updated both.

The file is stored under ~/.local/share/kstars
Comment 4 claude 2017-10-15 20:34:55 UTC
Thanks:
In ~/.local/share/kstars, it is only à link... (159B) marked at the current date (15/10)
In /usr/share/kstars/comets.dat are the data (155.4kB) marked at the old date. In the file, i see for example the comet C/2017 O1 but i have no answer in the window: "Aucun objet nommé « C/2017 O1 » n'a été trouvé". The list of the comets don't appears.
I don't understand what is wrong....

I just checked with 2.9.3 on Linux and it works fine. Please check with the latest KStars version.
