Description Mika L 2017-09-23 15:24:14 UTC
I bought a new drawing tablet and confirmed that it has nothing to do with the problem. As soon as I open a canvas, my cursor is automatically a hand and I cannot do anything but pan. Which means no matter what I do, I cannot draw. Sometimes it only works when I hold down B but not always. I do not know how to fix it and I have a deadline soon, please help!
Comment 1 Alvin Wong 2017-09-24 06:53:57 UTC
Uh, maybe you have the pan tool enabled in the toolbox?
Comment 2 Mika L 2017-09-24 17:02:36 UTC
Nope, I can click on any tool and it stays as the hand/pan tool!
Comment 3 Mika L 2017-09-24 17:03:56 UTC
No :/ It's just going back to pan no matter what I do

Probably a long shot, but can you take a tablet log by following this? https://docs.krita.org/KritaFAQ#What_if_your_tablet_is_not_recognized_by_Krita.3F

Try dragging your pen across the canvas for a bit when taking the log.

Tablet Log

This is the tablet log that I did, I do not think it picked anything up since all I could do was throw my empty canvas around for a good 2 minutes.

I posted it above(In reply to Alvin Wong from comment #4)

Are you able to draw on the canvas with a mouse?

Also I would like to know the brand and model of your tablet.
Comment 9 Mika L 2017-09-24 17:46:17 UTC
I am able to draw with my touchpad of my laptop and I am working with a Wacom Intuos Draw Small (In reply to Alvin Wong from comment #8)

Please try 3.3.0-rc.1: https://krita.org/en/item/krita-3-3-0-first-release-candidate/

Try switching to the Windows 8 Pointer Input API.
Comment 11 Mika L 2017-09-24 18:23:49 UTC
I have switched to the new version in that link and my father took it upon himself to keyboard smash. Ctrl+tab allows me to draw now but I can no longer open my circle popup palette and the quality went out the window! :(

Also, now in this version, I cannot draw on the canvas with my touchpad on the laptop, I think this means that it is not a problem with my tablet itself?(In reply to Alvin Wong from comment #10)

Have you enabled the Windows 8 Pointer Input API in the settings and restarted krita before testing?

Also... try to uninstall your current tablet driver, install the latest version, then clear the tablet driver configuration and try again...
Comment 14 Mika L 2017-09-25 18:47:53 UTC
I can't find that anywhere... Although I opened the settings and it says Windows 10 so maybe that's it?(In reply to Alvin Wong from comment #13)

Is it possible that this has to do with my new tablet? I recently got a new Wacom Intuos Draw in replacement of an olf Bamboo MTE-450. I had no problems with Krita until I changed my tablet...(In reply to Alvin Wong from comment #13)

I have turned the API on and did the tablet driver thing. I still cannot do anything but pan my screen! I really would prefer not to have to get a new program to work with or buy another tablet when I have a project deadline in 2 days :( (In reply to Alvin Wong from comment #16)

Wrll, reset your Krita configuration:https://docs.krita.org/KritaFAQ#Resetting_Krita_configuration

If this doesn't work, I can only suggest you to reinstall your operating system. Because this is obviously something wrong with your system that only you are getting and no other users are having this issue.
Comment 19 Mika L 2017-10-05 20:33:50 UTC
Okay, so I have since then taken my laptop to windows and they said that everything was fine with the laptop itself. I have also exchanged my Intuos Draw for another Intuos Draw and it still did not work. Earlier this morning,  I purchased an old Bamboo CTH-460 and it still does not work. I really cannot find the source of this issue, whoever I ask sends me to somewhere else. I have purchased 4 separate tablets and none of them allowed me to draw with Krita.

I'm really sorry, but this is a mystery for me as well. It's obviously not something other people suffer from, so it must be something peculiar to your system. Maybe a wacom setting that emits space or right-click when you press with the pen on the tablet?
Comment 21 Alvin Wong 2017-10-06 15:28:38 UTC
Reinstall/reset Windows completely.

I'm afraid that we just cannot do anything with this report, I'm very sorry :-(
