Description Nate Graham 2017-09-21 15:50:13 UTC
Right now, newly-installed applications aren't specially highlighted anywhere, making it more challenging than optimal for non-technical users to know how to launch them.

In Ubuntu Unity, newly-installed applications automatically show up on the always-visible Dock. In Windows, they appear highlighted at the top of the Start Menu.

We should consider doing something to highlight or display newly-installed applications more prominently.

Kickoff did have code to highlight new items at some point

(FYI this is a continuation of a conversation started at https://phabricator.kde.org/D7905)

It used to have a "Recently installed" category until it was rewritten to use Kicker's backend.

Great idea, would be really nice if we could implement this!
