DigiKam 5.7.0 Install Error

Hi, I am installing Digikam 5.7.0 on a Windows 10 system, but the error in the attached image is encountered. Any suggestions?

I checked https://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/digiKam-5.7.0-02-Win64.exe under Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (built-in virus protection active). No problem here with the installation or the start of digiKam. Make a new download, check the hard disk and disable the antivirus software during installation.

Can you test with current 5.8.0 pre-release installer :

This problem still reproducible with current 5.8.0 - pre-release Windows bundle available here :

Hi,
On my Windows 10 home, v. 1709, build 16299.125
I tried the following digicam installers and all were unesscessful without giving any specific error. All
> digiKam-5.7.0-02-Win64.exe
> digiKam-5.6.0-01-Win64.exe

Finammy I managed to complete 5.5.0 x64 and seems to work ok.

digiKam uninstallation issue

Tried to upgrade form v 5.5.0 to 5.7.0. During uninstallation an error occured.
Windows 10 home, 1709.
Uninstaler loops, and goes back to the window asking if I want to uninstal v 5.5.0.

I am logged in as non-admin user and had been asked to provide admin credentials.

v5.6.0 Install failure on Windows 10

I managed to recreate the same issue on Surface Pro, Windows 10 v1709.
Executed with admin rights.
Not able to install versions neither 5.7.0 nor 5.6.0, while 5.5.0 is fine.

Please test the pre-release digiKam-5.8.0 from here:

As Maik said, I fixed the Windows 10 support only with 5.8.0 installer. Please try with right version.

I've got vwesion 5.5.0 installed on 2 machines now and cannot uninstall it using the uninstaller. How can I manually remove it?
Comment 11 caulier.gilles 2018-01-02 23:29:42 UTC
Simply remove the root install dir of digiKam, as c:/program files/digikam

Hi,
This time it is installed, but I ended up with wrong entries in start.
During installation I was asked if I want the icons to be saved in menu
digiKam 5.5.0, I changed to 5.8.0 expecting new ones appeared under folder.
Challenge - since you do not allow installation of multiple versions at the
same time, what is the point in having version suggested in start. "digKam"
as a folder name probably would do.
If not then it should never attempt to install as version 5.5.0 (using
existing entries I guess somewhere in registry?).
Uninstallation worked fine except removing the digikam properly form start
- only 5.8.0 entries were removed...
Can you please suggest how to remove the redundant entries from start now?

Hi,
Found, removed from C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start
Menu\Programs\digiKam 5.5.0 and reinstalled app.
Now proper folder was suggested and all seems to be ok, thx
