Description luvallcomputers@gmail.com 2017-09-21 03:13:20 UTC
I am not sure how to file a report so doing my best. I have downloaded the drivers from Canon and installed them I am running Kubuntu 17.10. I have removed the printer several times. It is a network printer using wireless connection. I did not work in 16.10, 17.04 for some time and I finial get it to work. It would print black pages on pdf files but now it is not printing at all. It has the following information on localhost:631 processing since
Wed 20 Sep 2017 09:20:54 PM CDT
"Filter failed"
ion:	Canon MF8300C Series
Location:	Local Printer
Driver:	Canon MF8300C Series UFRII LT (color, 2-sided printing)
Connection:	socket://192.168.1.100
Defaults:	job-sheets=none, none media=na_letter_8.5x11in sides=one-sided

If you give me step by step I will try to run testing to see why it fails.

Not sure why Canon is so hard to get to print on the network. Might be missing some packages but not sure what. I have full upgraded and ran aptitude to make sure that I have all the latest files.
Thank you for helping with this and sorry that I am not good at giving details on what package failed.

Installed all updates and cups was updated in the process but still not printing.
Uninstalled and reinstalled several times to see if it would fix it.

Thanks for reporting your issue, however print-manager is only a front-end to CUPS, which does your printing. Although you are using proprietary drivers you are more likely to get help from them.
Since printing worked for you on older versions of Ubuntu, you can check which CUPS version worked and which stopped which might help them to help you :)

Best.
