Description gft 2017-09-03 05:09:08 UTC
I am working on an animation. When I try to render animation to GIF, the frames get exported to PNG files, but the resulting GIF only has a subset of those frames. For instance, rendering from frame 176 to 420 results in a GIF with only 79 frames. The proper number of PNG files are generated, however. I am using ffmpeg version 2.7.2

What is the framerate? Because it might be that GIF just cannot handle all the frames. You might also want to check if the same thing happens with mkv or mp4?

Actually, I did, and the mp4 only had the shortened version as well.
Having Krita not dispose of the PNG frames and running ffmpeg myself
produced an animated GIF with all of the frames, so it is not an
inherent problem with the GIF format either. Everything I've seen so
far suggests some problem in the way that ffmpeg is invoked

What command line do you use for ffmpeg?

Does this still happen with 3.3.2 or 4.0-prealpha.2?

I have the same problem. it renders PNGs fine, but not the video (it has reduced frames). I render the animation the same as the document's size and frame rate.
