Description Eike Hein 2017-08-31 16:42:08 UTC
For the UI rewrite of Konversation I would like to have two new icons representing the concepts "Enable notifications" and "Disable notifications".

They would be used to toggle notifications for a particular chat/room, as seen in many other IM/chat applications these days.

They would likely be used on a button bar together with the existing "network-connect" and "network-disconnect" icons, and should visually fit well with them.

While I don't want to bias the design process, many applications use a bell icon that gets a diagonal strikethrough for disabling, e.g. in Discord, which has a similar scope and function as Konversation.

in the plasma theme there is also a konversation icon does it will be used also? cause than it should fit also with this icon.

in addition there is also a kalarm icon which would fit the bell icon.

is it a notification icon for
- all notifications (not only konvi)
- all chat rooms
- for each chat room

As mentioned in the initial request it will be used in the UI to toggle notifications for an individual chat room (which could be with one or multiple people).

I think we can come up with something here. Are you thinking of something like a monochrome icon?
Comment 5 Eike Hein 2017-08-31 20:43:46 UTC
Yep I am - the "network-connect" and "network-disconnect" icons are a good reference IMHO as mentioned, since the new icons should look good right next to them.

what do you think? it's the kalarm icon but works perfect for notifications too. the pause thing work's also good with the breeze information in the bottom right corner. Red is for mute sound, mute notifications, ...
Comment 7 Eike Hein 2017-09-04 02:42:24 UTC
Not bad, but are you sure a pause symbol is right for disabling?
Comment 8 andreas_k 2021-11-14 12:56:07 UTC
Is this request still open, if yes there is
- notifications
- notifications-disabled
Comment 9 Nate Graham 2021-11-14 22:12:31 UTC
Yup, those should fit perfectly.
