apt-get

Dear kde devs,

Trying to install ibgtk2.0-0:i386 with the latest user or user/lts neon results in a dependency error.

Steps to reproduce (option 1):
# dpkg --add-architecture i386
# apt-get update
# apt-get install libgtk2.0-0:i386

Steps to reproduce (option 2):
# dpkg --add-architecture i386
# apt-get update
# aptitude install libgtk2.0-0:i386

Expected behavior:
libgtk2.0-0:i386 should install without complaining

Guessed problem from aptitude output:
 libharfbuzz0b : Breaks: libharfbuzz0b:i386 (!= 1.4.6-0neon+16.04+xenial+build2) but 1.0.1-1ubuntu0.1 is to be installed.
 libharfbuzz0b:i386 : Breaks: libharfbuzz0b (!= 1.0.1-1ubuntu0.1) but 1.4.6-0neon+16.04+xenial+build2 is installed.

Comment 2 Jonathan Riddell 2017-08-31 11:38:54 UTC
we don't make i386 packages so indeed they will clash where they depend on a specific version we have updated.

it's on the todo but it's not high priority

What a pity! The latest update just broke one of my most used sync apps.

But thank you for your quick reply.

Is there any specific place to look for, to find news about your i386 progress?

Hello all, I was also trying to install libgtk2.0-0:i386 to execute a software I use at work (on windows, they recently made a Linux version) but it is Eclipse based and use the GTK2 toolkit. Apt complains about broken dependences, and following them I think it all boils down to libkrb5support0:i386. There seems to be something with Kerberos that clashes with the NEON packages.

I'm also experiencing this issue. I realize it may not be a high priority for the team. I'm specifically trying to install the Bridgepoint xtUML modeling tool which is also based on GTK2 i386.
