Move cursor back into Kate. Actual result: Cursor doesn't transforms into regular cursor type - but continues to be with green circle icon on the right side.

Here I see a hand shaped cursor after the steps provided by OP. But I can reproduce this issue by a different way. start Wayland session open kate and dolphin drag a text file from Dolphin and drop it on kate hover over the breadcrumb of dolphin or move cursor from its places panel to its files view a green circle appears together the cursor. Such behavior stops after I restart Dolphin. Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.63.0 Qt Version: 5.13.2
I've just tested this on the latest Kate and cannot replicate. Alexander can you please retest and let us know your results, thanks.
