Created attachment 107015 [details] Screenshot Digikam Settings Digikam 5.5.0 as well as 5.6.0 have an incomplete German translation, as can be seen from the attachment (digikam-lang is installed). This applies to openSUSE Leap 42.3 and Tumbleweed, and has already been reported there: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1051374
This is an issue of man power. The Digikam translation is really large and currently unmaintained in the German translation team. That's unfortunate but since the vocabulary used in Digikam is non-trivial, things will not improve in the forseeable future. ... unless someone steps up and puts some time and love into it.

Unfortunately my experience translating KDE-stuff is fairly limited but I do have loKalize installed and can certainly do a few strings. Where would I get the strings and where do I submit them? Prepare for some rough ride the first few miles. :) Here is a rather general explanation of the process. You need to check out the translation files from Subversion: cd some_folder svn co svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/l10n-kf5/templates/messages templates svn co svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/l10n-kf5/de/messages de Then you create a project in Lokalize and point it to these files (templates and translation files). If you translated some strings, you create a diff and put it to reviewboard or phabricator for review. (I need to check first where the current place for diff review is ... @Burkhardt, any idea if we can use Phabricator already?) Once the review has been checked-in to the repo, you update your checkouts and translate the next bunch. If the project is opened in Lokalize, you can type "digikam" in the filter bar and see the main file. :) But in general you can find the files in the extragear-graphics submodule. Look into German translations statistics page, for the current developement version (next 6.0.0 planed after this summer): https://l10n.kde.org/stats/gui/trunk-kf5/team/de/extragear-graphics/ Look all *digikam* entries. The most important is digikam.po. All the rest is not digiKam application. As you can see the normal status is back with German translations, at least, the minimum maintenance is necessary to complete all EN strings to GE strings. You can test the translations with the 6.0.0 pre-release AppImage that we provide here : https://files.kde.org/digikam/ So i close this bug now.
