The main program Kstars released on July 25th shows error upon exiting it. It does not affect the stability of the program of other functions otherwise.
This happens all the time? or when do some actions? Any specific error message?
This happens irrespective of any actions I do. Whenever I download and install the catalogues, these errors repeat themselves. What is important that the same errors occur on two different machines with OSs Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 equally. The site has a form for reporting bugs but I did not notice it having suggestions form. Can I write a suggestion to add or improve to this email directly? You can file suggestions as "wishlist" items, not as bugs. Once you download the catalogs, no need to do it again _even_ if it is not marked as installed as there is a bug with one of the KDE components.
In addition, the USNO NOMAD catalogue never gets installed. I do not know if it is unable to download or there is a problem with the installation component of the program. It does not matter how long I keep the process of installation going, it never ends, and no catalogue with stars dimmers than 12m ever appear in the program. The speed (volume) of the internet connection does not affect the process of the download completion of this catalogue either. This situation repeats itself on two different computers. Is the "wish list" a subject line or a form? Where can I find it? Thank you. Please follow guide here to download USNO NOMAD. Under Windows, you have to copy the file to KStars %APPDATA% directory, something like AppData/Local/kstars http://knro.blogspot.com/2017/03/how-to-get-100-million-stars-in-kstars.html
thank you. I will do it. I think this problem was fixed by me around 1-2 weeks ago. Please reopen if you experience the problem again with the latest bleeding-edge version.
This one was my commit: https://github.com/KDE/kstars/commit/b41529f8d9f2e4d818f19388798594dfc6b2c70d
The problem does not continue any long with with the same version of K-stars. Right? The plug-in container fixes the status of downloaded and installed catalogues, does it? I checked it once the catalogues seemed not to change their respective status. I will check it tomorrow. Thanks. Probably it is just misunderstanding, but if I understood right, you enabled some catalogs and then KStars crashed on exit, is not it? At least that is the problem what I fixed. The same version of KStars is not fixed. You should test with a KStars build for Windows after 1st of August.
yesterday i checked the web site there was still the version as of July 25. Do you mean that the version is the same but the build installer changed? My reported problems were not associated with the crashes or hanging of the main application general. Instead, the problems were with the plug-in container. The latter never seemed finalized, or it periodically created issues with the status of the installed catalogues. The catalogues frequently appeared installed and then changing the status to "needs to be installed" again whereas in fact they are installed but the plug-in container somehow fails to recognize the fact. Yes, I also encountered problems with the crash of the application on exit but this was by comparison a minor problem. My understanding is the same version of the application is now updated with the modifications entered into the installer build, is it? Reopen. Different issue as I thought.
Please check with 2.8.2 if you encounter the same problem.
Closing this issue as it was resolved with 2.8.2, reopen if it is still there.
