Description NG 2017-07-26 15:28:14 UTC
Hi,

Freeze effect doesn't work whatever I choose Freeze Before or Freeze After or don't check any box.

Very strange (Speed effect works fine).

I use Kdenlive in French (the Freeze effect is known as "Geler").

Thanks.

Hi,

I am experiencing the same issue with Kdenlive 17.04.3 also in french.
Effect is in the effects list for the selected clip it should apply to but project monitor and rendering results show no freeze at all.

Thanks.

Hi,

I get the same issue (freeze does nothing) on Kdenlive 17.04.3, English version, MLT 6.4.1. Archlinux with i3.

As a temporary workaround, I play the video in VLC, pause it on the spot I want it frozen, go to `video > take snapshot`, and then use that snapshot image in Kdenlive where I needed the freeze.

One more detail: the freeze effect has 3 inputs: the freeze time and two check boxes. The state of the check boxes is saved correctly when clicked, but changing the freeze time is not changed.

Test:

0. Have two video clips in the time line, A and B.
1. apply the freeze filter to clip A.
2. select clip B.
3. select clip A.
4. change the freeze time and the state of the check boxes.
5. select clip B.
6. select clip A. Notice how the freeze time was not saved the last time we changed it, but the check boxes were indeed saved.

Thanks for your report. This has been fixed in Kdenlive 17.08 that will be released shortly (17th of august).

Fixed with this commit:

Hi,

Are you sure this has been fixed?
I am still experiencing the same issue with 17.08.1 french or english.
I am trying to use the freeze effect as showed in the following video:
https://youtu.be/fwfSWAz9ewA?t=2m

Still no freeze on the project monitor or rendering results.
I am using Archlinux and have tried using i3 window manager & KDE plasma.

I also am experiencing this bug on version 17.12.2 on Fedora.
If I add the freeze effect, the video does not freeze.

If I add two freeze effects in the same video, it freezes.
When using two freeze effects, a problem occurs in the layering of the videos. I could attach a video to demonstrate it, if you need it. The layering problem only occurs when using the freeze effect. By using a freezed video as a background and layering on an image with a trasparent part, and adding an "Affine" transition to layer it on the background, only the background is showed.
By disabling both two freeze effects, the layering works correctly.

I use kdenlive in Italian,

thanks!

Hi,

Testing this again (Kdenlive 18.04.2, MLT 6.8.0KDE 5.47.0), I don't experience the issue anymore: putting a clip on the timeline and adding one or many freeze effects work fine.

However I can see a similar issue as omino.gis[@]gmail.com did: adding a title clip as an overlay makes Kdenlive ignore any freeze effect on underlying clips.

There's an issue about it already #378953

Looks like this one has been fixed eventually.

Please try with the actual Kdenlive AppImageversion 18.08.3
Run the Appimage from the terminal (press CTRL + ALT + T). Move to the AppImage folder and run the .AppImage: ./Kdenlive*.AppImage

It seems it works. We close this bug. If it still appears in the latest version, please feel free to re-open it and update the affected version number.
