Hi folks,
thanks a lot for your good work!

I am currently experimenting and comparing Digikam and Lightroom (testversion) in Windows. Both are set to write the metadata into the images for compatibility. Unfortunately I had some trouble with the tags.

#1 Reread from file
Setting a tag in Digikam and syncing the folder in LR works well, but renaming the tag in LR I was unable to make Digikam load it, while MS Windows displays the changed tag in properties. I tried Album->Reread Metadata from Images, as well as Item->Reread Metadata from Images.

#2 Write updates to file
Furthermore, staying in Digikam, setting a tag with a parent, for example who/Bob for some pictures and later rename the tag who->who2, I was unable to make Digikam write the change into the files. I tried Album->Write Metadata to Images, as well as Item->Write Metadata to Images

It would be great if you could fix this!
Cheers Torben

Do you use Jpeg or Raw images?

Hi Maik, I was talking about Jpeg, haven't tried Raws.

Using Synology Photo Station instead of LR:

#1 Doesn't work for me anyway because PS writes to Dublin Core when tags are modified. Although it reads digiKam schema just fine.

#2 Works fine with 7-Dec build of 5.8.0. I change the hierarchical tag to Who2 and this is picked up by PS.

I guess this must have been fixed since 5.6.0.

I close the bug we had an issue reading and writing metadata in digiKam-5.6.0. If necessary, reopen the bug.
