When I complete the installation of the new catalogues via K-Stars add-on installer, the planetarium repeatedly shows that the catalogues need to be installed over again. This was despite the fact that it had previously shown successfully installed the listed catalogues. To give you example of many, the Tycho -2 and Inline thumbnail images had been installed and shown respective status in the Add-on installer dialogue box. However, when the application was launched anew, the status of the catalogues changed to "install". This is very frustrating. What can be done?
KStars for Windows was compiled via Craft and the last KF5 frameworks including KNewStuff, but multiple users now reported this bug.
Thank you for reporting this issue in KDE software. As it has been a while since this issue was reported, can we please ask you to see if you can reproduce the issue with a recent software version? If you can reproduce the issue, please change the status to "REPORTED" when replying. Thank you!
I have tried to install the catalogues afresh with the same result i.e., some of the catalogues are held in storage but many require installing them again as if no installation attempt had been done. These catalogues are e.g., Inline thumbnail images, Tycho 2 star catalogue, Details for NGC Images displayed in the details window and others at times too. It is not clear if next update to Kstars will bring about the need to install one of already installed catalogues again. I am not speaking of updates to the installed catalogues. The issue is entirely about installing catalogues as if they had not been installed. The software (Kstars) just seems to fail to retain the catalogues in its storage. So if you need to have them active then you need to visit the Download new Data application over and over again.
