Description miklos 2017-07-12 22:23:35 UTC
The Computer tab of the menu should contain an Applications and a Places list, but the latter is completely missing ever since I upgraded KDE from 4 to 5. I now tried a Fedora live CD, and that one didn't have this issue, so it's probably a configuration error. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Do your Places show up in Dolphin? Can you perhaps attach your ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc

plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc

Yes, Dolphin has Places. I've attached the plasma config file.

I added two folders to Places for quick access. Now Dolphin shows those two folders, Home, Network, Root and Trash in the Places panel. Gwenview shows the mount points, and those two folders in the Places tab. Kickoff only shows those two folders. Consistency where?

Can't reproduce in:

KDE Plasma Version: 5.11.4
KDE Apps Version: 17.12.0
5.41.0
Qt Version: 5.10.0
Kernel: 4.14.10-2-MANJARO

All 'Places' shortcuts are displayed and updated ok upon change/remove/add - consistently across Dolphin, Gwenview and Kickoff apps

I deleted ~/.local/share/user-places.xbel, it was automatically recreated, and now Dolphin, Kickoff, and Gwenview show the same stuff in Places. The bookmarks I added in Dolphin only showed up in Kickoff after relogin though.
