Why do you assign this file to Database-migration ?

What do you see in the console ad debug trace ?

Greetings Gilles,
On a new installation: Digikam comes up with Albums and below that
Pictures, listing all the folders in the database, but then, when you try
to open a Folder to access the pictures the Folder is blank! (nothing shows
up).
Therefore I tried going in the settings, migration; to no effect. Tried
settings, Configure Digikam, add collections and again no result. I have
experienced this in the past and after a lot of fiddling managed to get the
pictures appearing, but not this time. Have tried with "Permissions" on the
HDD in case they were set as root instead of the user (myself) and that
showed OK.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
TIA

Kind regards,

This want mean that no older digiKam was been installed on your system previously (as a 4.x version for ex) ?

I really need to see the console trace when you try to access to image.

Your file attached to this entry are not relevant.

Run digiKam from a console. It will print a lots of debug traces.
Please copy the console text trace to a text file and attach it to this entry.

As i can see the Database cannot be used. I don't know why.

So, you use a mysql database. A local (internal) or remote server (from a NAS for ex) ?

I have my pictures in my sda1 (/home/egh/Pictures). I have always used
this setup. In addition I have an sda2 (/mnt/Backup2), wherein I back up my
pics. as above.
I have checked both sda1 and sda2, their contents and their permissions,
and both are OK (owner being egh in both).
"mysql" is the default database used by Digikam and that is why I am using
it. I would not mind using an alternative database if this was recommended,
however I have always used this database since I have been using Digikam,
from quite a number of years ago.
I will retire for the day now. We are at GMT +12.... on wed 12 July.

Good night for now.

No I want to know just if it's a local mysql database (files on hard drive as sqlite), or if it's a network database (as running on a NAS for ex).

Can you go to SDK setup dialog, and give me all the settings from Database and Collections sections ?

where do I find the SDK setup dialog? If you let me know, I will forward
the info to you.
I believe this is the Microsoft Virus (EUFI) that is causing the problem. I
thought I had overcome it. Digikam is working perfectly in one of my other
computers with an Intel i7.
I have booted with Mageia -6-rc-Live on a USB, this time, only to find the
problem persists.
Find the Dolphin does not show all the places (devices) as it did in
previously in earlier versions.

Not SDK but DK ==> digiKam (:=)))...

Go to digiKam main menu, Settings/Configure...

Note : if it's due to an Anti-virus side effect, so this file can be closed, as you tested with other system which don't have this kind of problem. Right ?

I haven't found a way to eliminate/close the Windows virus EUFI, which is
in the motherboard firmware. If you know of a method to do this, please let
me know, as it is become a problem to install Linux in PCs.
I have gone frequently to Digikam's Settings....Digikam Migration and
Configure Digikam. Tried multiple different settings, all to no avail.

Greetings Gilles Caulier,
Have solved the problem.....After disabling practically all the options in
the settings of the Motherboard (MSI 970A-G43 MS-7693(V3.x)) I reinstalled
Mageia-6-sta-2-x86_64-DVD.iso using a previously installed HDD thereby
using the the autoalloacated patitions, which would not allow me to do
previously claiming the partitions: /, Linux swap and /usr, were to small
(under 8.4GiB each). This done under "expert mode". At the end of the
installations it further installed the "Grub2" boot system and the tried to
add an additional entry which surly had to do with the UEFI, which I
deleted. I booted Mageia 6 and proceeded to install mi WiFi, them did the
updates, all before opening Digikam. Then, using Dolphin copied the picture
files from sdb1 to /home/egh/Pictures in sda7 This went OK. Having
completed this, I opened Digikam and followed the opening prompts which
found the path /home/egh/Pictures, but I still could not open them. On
further exploring, found a new slider at the bottom right corner of Digikam
which starting showing an incremental percentage figure which was a new
copying into Digikam. On completion of 100% I opened the picture list to
find they were all there; all 411 folders with their pictures in
them......Hooray, after a lot of fiddling!
Thanks for all your help and have a nice weekend.

Kind regards,
