Description avlas 2017-07-10 20:11:21 UTC
I realized of this because plasma's battery applet informs that power management is disabled while on battery because of Konqueror, in particular because webRTC has active peer connections.

I have not give any permission to webRTC for sharing anything with any peer and I think this is a serious privacy issue.

I will stop using Konqueror until there is an option to disable such unwanted behavior, which I guess comes from QtWebEngine.
Comment 1 Allan Sandfeld 2017-07-10 20:29:21 UTC
WebRTC doesn't share anything from you unless you have given it permission, but as far as understand it may be used to stream content to your browser without asking for permission just like video tags does.
Comment 2 avlas 2017-07-10 20:41:04 UTC
Well, I didn't give any permission to anything and I was not asked either. That's what I am worried about...
Comment 3 Allan Sandfeld 2017-07-10 22:34:16 UTC
As I said, as far I know no permission is needed to receive content, and some services are now using WebRTC for streaming, probably under a delusion that it works as form of DRM.
Comment 4 avlas 2017-07-10 23:06:30 UTC
I see. But still, would it be a way to manually enable/disable receiving such streaming content on demand?
