Description Matthias 2017-07-10 17:34:38 UTC
I think its a great improvement to automatically adjust the icons in the places panel

So like it can adjust to more and less devices and so on.

It's not clear what you're asking for. Can you be more specific?
Comment 2 Matthias 2017-09-07 19:53:51 UTC
I suggest to autoscale the items in the places menu, by shifting the width of it.
KDialog does it so.
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2017-09-08 02:14:46 UTC
Hmm, that doesn't help much. Perhaps some screenshots and mockups of your proposal would help.
Comment 4 Christoph Feck 2017-09-13 21:05:42 UTC
People are annoyed by the autoscaling of icon size in the file dialog places panel, so it certainly should be optional. See bug 182089.
Comment 5 Nate Graham 2017-09-14 02:57:06 UTC
This is weird. In this bug, someone asks to implement automatic panel icon resizing. But in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=182089, people complain about it! So which is it? Is this feature implemented or not?

FWIW in an up-to-date Neon VM, my save and open dialogs both use small, un-resizable icons and don't ever seem to get bigger no matter how I resize the dialogs.
Comment 6 Matthias 2017-09-15 10:35:50 UTC
Very easy: Make it optional.
Comment 7 Nate Graham 2017-09-15 15:57:03 UTC
Yes, but the question remains: is this currently implemented or not?
Comment 8 Matthias 2017-09-17 09:05:15 UTC
In an up to date KaOS installation, it works still.
Comment 9 Christoph Feck 2017-09-20 22:40:19 UTC
Nate, the Dolphin places panel is different from the kio/kfile places panel.
Comment 10 Justin Zobel 2020-10-25 07:09:44 UTC
If this is implemented I hope it is an option that can be turned on, rather than default.
Comment 11 Nate Graham 2022-01-23 04:14:22 UTC
This is now available in Dolphin 22.04 with the port to kflieplacesview, which has that feature.
