Created attachment 106466 [details]
Preview of Okular Group with 6 Windows open, only the first 5 are shown.

I often have many documents open in Okular, so I group those in the taskbar.
Now, when hoovering over this entry in the taskbar I only see the first documents I opened, but the later ones are not shown as preview icons.

I attach a screenshot, where I have opened six Okular windows in the group and only the first five are accessible through the preview tooltip. Note, moreover, that even the rightmost preview window is not completely rendered on screen.
Comment 1 Eike Hein 2017-07-07 06:25:18 UTC
It's scrollable horizontally.
Comment 2 Christian Herenz 2017-07-07 16:21:49 UTC
I can not scroll it horizontally.
Comment 3 Christian Herenz 2017-07-07 16:23:39 UTC
Should I file a new bug?
Comment 4 Christoph Feck 2017-07-17 17:37:35 UTC
Eike, I see no scroll bar in the screenshot. Has it been added in a later version, or does it require a mouse with a scroll wheel?
Comment 5 Eike Hein 2017-07-18 10:06:15 UTC
I think it scrolls, but with no bar. CC'ing Roman who wrote the current tooltip dialog.
Comment 6 Christian Herenz 2017-07-23 16:56:23 UTC
I do not use a mouse with a scroll wheel. I use a touchpad, where the scroll wheel is emulated by touching the right margin. I can not scroll the thumbnail gallery with this.

As this bug is clearly present for me, and "WORKSFORME" was assigned by someone who only "thinks it scrolls", I reopen as UNCONFIRMED.

You should be able to grab the list anywhere with your mouse cursor and drag it to the side (much like you would do on a touch screen with your finger) in order to scroll it.

I would prefer if it had a visible scroll bar, though.

I'm using 5.8.6 (LTS on openSUSE 42.2 - same version is afaik in openSUSE 42.3 which got released today) and what you describe is not possible.

If it doesn't clutter the view why not? Other way (or supplementary) would be to integrate mouse wheel scrolling for horizontal view (this needs to be done manually then by reading out the wheel delta). Horizontal scrolling with a wheel, which supports it, should work though. And with a touchpad (tested it with two finger horizontal scroll).

Tested it on Neon User with Plasma 5.10.4 and it works (both flicking as well as horizontal scroll via touchpad). See here for flicking in action:

Not sure if there was a bug fix in between the versions not being backported. I don't remember any such fix though.

I can confirm the behaviour. I'm also on SopenSuSE 42.2 and also can not scroll. The issue extends to window list as well: There are more entries visible, but on a small screen less than a dozen entries are visible and again there is no scrollbar.

Should I file another bug for the window list problem?

The list seems to not be window list but a different list within task manager.

Can you please tell me what I need to provide you with to mark this as confirmed in LTS? Or will this be a WONTFIX for LTS?
Comment 15 Roman Gilg 2017-12-15 10:49:20 UTC
Well, I should have checked the attachment in the first post more carefully after I was cc'd. This problem is with the old version of the thumbnails before my rewrite one year ago.

Since it's not my code, this is from my side a won't fix. Sorry, I must concentrate on other stuff at the moment, but maybe someone else will fix it for the old version. The good news is though that the next Plasma LTS release is due in January, which then has of course my rewrite. I dont know when OpenSuse will upgrade Leap afterwards, but with the new thumbnails the problem will go away.

So essentially:

- This problem has already been fixed in a newer version of Plasma
- We don't have the resources to backport the fix to Plasma 5.8.6, sorry
- The next Plasma LTS is 5.12, which should be released in about a month: https://community.kde.org/Schedules/Plasma_5
