Description VTVL 2017-07-05 17:39:44 UTC
Are the correct sources for Comets, NEAs and Supernovae included in KStars?

In CdC comets are at http://www.minorplanetcenter.net/iau/Ephemerides/Comets/Soft00Cmt.txt

and Asteroids (including NEAs) are at http://www.minorplanetcenter.net/iau/MPCORB/MPCORB.DAT.gz

Is there a way for a user to nominate or at least see the links of the sources?

Similar concern for new supernovae.

for Comets

Data and update (TheSky format)

We use JPL data for comets and asteroids. For supoernovae, we use Open Supernova Project

Please test for comet C/2017 O1 (ASASSN) which is at present in Taurus and at about mag 8.5.

This a is a newly discovered comet. It is listed on the other ephemeris element sources.

Is the JPL data or KStars enquiry to update correctly configured?

Similar test request for asteroid 3122 Florence .
