When I try to add an additional album, the window does not pop up, and Digikam freezes. Have to kill and restart. Note: after installing a fresh Ubuntu 17.04, Digikam seemed to have lost its configuration data (?!), wanted to startup with mysql rather than SQLite, and seemed to build new databases. Weird.

We have never seen this dysfunctions before. Strangely, this appear under Ubuntu, the most worst Linux distribution ( it's my viewpoint and my experience). Please, try to use last 5.7.0 Linux AppImage bundle available here instead your digiKam from your system : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BzeiVr-byqt5Y0tIRWVWelRJenM Gilles Caulier
Gilles, I think it is the native file dialog. I want that now times for all file dialogs in digiKam to fix. An option in Setup to select whether to use a native dialog? Maik
Hi Maik, yes, all file dialogs need to be fixed. If native file dialog Qt wrapper is bugous, why to provide an option to change this behavior ? How deal other Qt applications ? VLC, Clementine, Scribus, Krita ? Gilles
Hi Gilles, Thanks for the work-around with 5.7.0. I've added two other collections, and so far so good. I trust it will be fixed in the end. Regards, Theo.
The native or the everywhere working Qt file dialog can now be selected in the setup. I close the bug now. Maik
