Description philippe weyland 2017-07-02 10:29:15 UTC
Digikam Handbook says:
Album!Reread Metadata From Images
Write the metadata of all items in the current album to the database. The database will inherit the images metadata []

If a sidecar file is deleted IPTC & XMP metadata disappear.

We cannot store _ALL_ IPTC/XMP metadata in the database. Only the most important are stored.
