See the attachment. Anyway what i do, it stays like this. The folder icon, which leads to KFile is same frozen as the path field itself, even after a reboot. 

It worked before, i think it happens since the update to 17.04.2 from .1

Have you changed the search place combo box?

You can search in: Current File, Open Files, In Folder, In Project and In All Projects.

If you change to anything other than "In Folder", the folder option will be disabled.

I reinstalled Kate, which fixed that issue. 
Anyway, it should not appear in the first instance
