On the display, I can usually see a list of the layers to the right hand side, along with the advanced color and all that jazz. When I launched the program today, the option where I could see and adjust layers is completely gone and no matter what settings I mess with, I can't seem to make it come back. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application as well. No one has used the application since I shut it down last night.
Why are people always uninstalling and reinstalling? That doesn't do a thing. You can re-open closed dockers in settings/dockers, you can reset your workspace to a default with the right-most button in the top toolbar, or you can reset the entire Krita configuration (https://docs.krita.org/KritaFAQ#Resetting_Krita_configuration). You might accidentally have entered canvas-only mode by pressing tab; pressing tab again gets you of there.
It worked, thank you!
