Using the search feature, the "still looking" text and the swirly thing underneath never go away. My personal opinion is that this shouldn't be overlayed directly on top of other elements anyway, especially where it could end up on top of other text. Some options I can think of are - Visual indicator in search bar - Bottom status bar like the bottom of the Konversation window or like Internet Explorer 8. - Something shown when the user gets to the bottom of the search results, part of the list rather than overlayed on top.
