For example, have a look at the screenshot attached. I tried to do a search for the file "07.Olivia - All.Mp3" that contains the metadata "Artist: Olivia". No results were returned. Also, in the "Name/Location" tab I used the following options: Named: *.* Look in: /home/funkybomber/Documents Include Subfolders: Enabled

Does the Dolphin search find them? KFind unfortunately has no maintainer to investigate issues.
@ Christoph Feck No, the Dolphin search does not return these results either. I don't think that Dolphin does any search in the metadata. KFind on the other hand is supposed to have this functionality.
Hi, Can you try the latest version (Applications 18.12)? I believe that after this patch https://cgit.kde.org/kfind.git/commit/?id=0f8642a78ba2021f1cad5047a7d9de587dd87cbe the problem is solved. Thanks in advance for your help.
@Yuri Chornoivan Hello, good job! This patch brings us almost there! The search returned the correct results for a string that exists in metadata like "Artist" and "Title" but it did NOT return any results for a string that exists in the metadata "Tags" or "Comment". I think that we should leave this bug open, as we have not yet reached a complete metadata search functionality through KFind. It seems we are on the right track though! :D
Changed to REPORTED until KFileMetaData has the complete support of tags and comments.

Created attachment 156017 [details] Example of a KFind search in xattrs not returning results. The problem can still be reproduced on the latest version of KDE Neon User Edition. The KFind search failed to retrieve the files based on their xattrs Tags and Comment.
