The Kontact tray icon is extremely likely to be mistake for a wireless-networking icon. I would suggest changing it. Perhaps to an icon like this: https://image.freepik.com/free-icon/multiple-users-silhouette_318-49546.jpg which matches with the contact/social aspect of the application.
I think you are referring to Akregator (RSS feed) icon, which looks like wifi icon tilted by 45 degrees. This is an icon provided by Breeze, not by Akregator, so reassigning to Breeze.
Its based on the RSS and old Akregator icon which, when in monochrome becomes very "wifi icon" like (mostly because Wifi icons tend to be "anything with a signal symbol in it"). All the rss icons I see have a point and two lines (vs 3 on the akregator's icon). Maybe removing a line and making the remaining two larger would be less confusing for users who never saw a rss icon ?

So, if I get this correct, Kontact uses Akregators icon? Then perhaps Kontacs' icon should also change because it has little association with RSS in my mind. The RSS icon does indeed look like a wifi icon. The new icon is a better one indeed imho. Still strange as a Kontact tray-icon though.
