I have a couple of feeds that come from a site that require me to log in. Sessions are maintained using cookies. Prior to 5.4.3 (specifically, whatever version was in Kubuntu 16.10), I could simply open the site in an Akregator tab and log in, then Akregator could fetch the feeds. The site's credentials expire periodically, so I would simply log in again. Now, feed-fetching fails despite a successful login under a tab. (Setting priority to Grave because this is a show-stopper for me; I have to find another feed reader if this does not work.)
This may be the same problem underlying Bug 379016.
Same problem here: Atlassian JIRA's RSS URL looks like this: https://[customer id].atlassian.net/activity?maxResults=5&os_authType=basic&title=undefined Thus it relies on the authentication token stored in cookies.
I cannot express how disappointed I am with this regression. I had to switch to Liferea! :( Unfortunately, its solution is to use a regular browser's cookie store. I have it using Firefox's store, but occasionally Firefox's cookie management removes the cookies from its on-disk store (I think it's caching newly-acquired cookies in RAM), so every few days Liferea can't authenticate until I either close all Firefox windows or until Firefox finally decides to update its on-disk cookie store. :( :( Please fix this. I miss Akregator!
Can confirm this is an issue and still occurring in Akregator 5.8.3 (latest package from Kubuntu Cosmic). Will try to check with master too.
